What is SEO? and Can it Be Used To Help Get More Sales Leads Online.

This follows on from a post earlier on this week about generating online sales leads. You might wonder the relevance of the photo? In honesty nothing really apart from the fact I took it last night and it is a beautiful sunset. Seo can get a bit serious in some quarters sometimes!

Back to the questions in hand. Let’s answer one at a time. Especially the SEO bit as this is a jargon word banded around and spelled in many different ways depending which side of the atlantic you live on

To start, SEO (search engine optimisation) is an internet marketing technique that’s used to drive more traffic to your site via google, yahoo, and many other search engines out there. Google especially in the UK.

These search engines have specific programs (called spiders) that analyse any such content published on the internet. So, in theory, when people get online and search for information, you want to maximise your content so that your site appears on the very first page.

Its not a terribly complicated concept, however there may be a little bit of research and terminology that needs to be understood so you can implement the best techniques onyour site to attract the customers and potential new clients you want.

SEO, is all about filling your web page { and your generally where ever you or your company hang out online} with keywords that people commonly use when looking for you and the service you provide.

For those people that are new to this site and are unsure about keywords top line. A keyword is a word or phrase that people commonly enter when doing a search for information, products or services. If the keywords on your web site are more relevant for that customers search than others who share similar information, eventually Google will place your web site as a choice on page one.

The spiders that Google uses are made to not only evaluate the content and keywords on your site, but to compare it with all of the other websites/online presence out there it has already come across. It’ll count the number of words used, and determine whether or not it can be considered relative or valuable to visitors.

These spiders look over the hidden text for key words, page titles, links, and image descriptions and if your business site meets the requirements, this web crawler then compares the overall page content with your overall website theme to check for consistency between the two.

Seems really logical. So best not to use sneaky terms to get some extra traffic. It is ok if you have wriiten some content that links to a certain trend or celeb in the media and is relevant for your audience
In honesty I am sure in the next few weeks I will manage to find a number of links to the Xfactor and online marketing in lancashire. Any ideas or suggests please leave a comment!

Keywords in large categories have very high traffic views and could possibly up the amount of people that arrive at your website. An interesting fact that in June there were 101 million searchs in the uk for Shoes!

However, your competition against millions of others is great, and if you wish to compete with them, you’ll have to do just as much work if not more. If you are a local business you will never be able to compete with the large companies using broad words. The positive thing is you dont have to.

Using us, Najeda online marketing as an example. We are based in the lake district in the UK . Because of what we do we can actually work Globally and for some of the areas we are involved in we do. Yet there are so many companies in the local area we can help and add value to dominating a global market is not what we need to do. If suddenly four hundred companies decided they wanted to work with us we could not cope and provide the kind of service we want to. So with our site we optimise for local search terms.

So, get out there, and expose your business to the web and hopefully attract your target audience It’s all a numbers game! If your business is going to thrive, you’ll need customers and plenty of them.

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Best Wishes

Denise
