UK TV Adverts from the 70′s!

by Denise

Depending on how old you are some of you will find this more fun than others! We were chatting to some marketing colleagues about the power of ads and some of our favorites over the years. Oh how advertising has changed!…….along with the products.
I wonder who will admit to wearing denim aftershave. For our US and Australian visitors a glimpse of good old England from the 70′s.

What is fantastic to look at, is how advanced some of these adverts were when it comes to buying patterns and the subconscious mind.

The cadbury flake ad for instance. When Sharon viewd this last night she was able to sing it word for word . It must be 30 years since she saw it at least!! I have to say the Old spice ad is possibly my all time favourite from the 70′s.

Let us know which ones are your fav’s!

Enjoy your Thursday

Best Wishes

Denise and Sharon

Hi Georgia
I know it is an age thing!! In the 70′s the adverts were often better than the programmes!!

A couple of ads from the 70′s I would love to see again were those from the BMK Carpet Company, It featured a beautiful brunette who was also deadly in the art of Judo, I think in one she took on a guy on a large square of carpet effortlessly despatching him around with throws and as it faded out he was slapping the carpet as she held him in a judo hold. The second was again her using her skills but in a self defence type, I think she was in a apartment of some kind with luxury carpet but this time she dispatched two intruders around with judo, I think she wore something like an elegant satin kimono robe if my memory serves me.
Does anyone remember these or know where or who may have copies ?
Cheers

Graham
