Madonna and marketing, two very linked subjects and a follow on from yestedays thoughts on knowing your market. A short post today and just a question to stimulate your thinking.
Are you still stuck in what your customers used to do?? or are you willing to look at being different and providing a service they actually want?
Love her or hate her Madonna really is one lady that knows were she is going. Her latest album/CD or whatever ever you want to call it has just been released. It is called celebration by the way.
If you are studying how to be successful you can’t go to far wrong than to look at Madge and what has happened to her over her career. She is now the most popular selling female artist ever. Yet she arrived in New York in 1977 with £20 in her pocket. Now she is worth billions. Good for her I say.
Taking aside her spiritual practise, healthy eating and exercise ( oops maybe there is a lesson in that for all of us) She is an individual that has always stayed current and grown with her audience. No sticking to how she sang and looked in the seventies.
If you truly do want to grow you and your company you have to keep an eye on the market and what is happening. If your customers are moving online maybe you need a stronger presence there. If they now hang out on Twitter perhaps you could set up an account. If they have stopped buying your current service what are they using instead. Could you provide it for them.
We faced this decision ourselves a couple of years ago. Customers were buying more online. Sales and sales training was developing to hoe to sell and market online.
