How to choose a domain registrar: Name Cheap is Easy

This post is a continuation of the last few posts we have listed. A number of you have asked what products and services we recommend. So from time to time you will see various reviews and suggestions. The banner adverts at the side of this post are all related to services or products we actually use.

Back to how to decide on a domain registrar this is an important task for any business owner. First though you will need to put some thought into the domain name you actually want.

Is it a brand you are creating or would you like to ride the wave of traffic in your particular area of expertise? For instance if you are a business coach in Lincoln and you know that this is a term people search on then you could consider buying that domain name.

Google will recognise the domain and you will get some added benefits in your ranking position. If you are building a really strong brand you might want to go down the other route. We decided on Najeda as our company name so we bought that as our domain and we are building our brand around it. We run online marketing seminars. So we bought a domain name that can and does appear on the first page of Google when you search for online marketing seminar.

Have a look at the video below for some useful tips and ideas. It is from Gideon Shalwick at become a blogger.

Back to domain registrars. I use and recommend one in particular. It is Namecheap. As the name implies they are. Plus as an added extra you also receive free whois guard protection. This means that no one knows who you are when you purchase the domain name. There are lots of different places to buy your domain name from and some hosting companies will often run deals where you can buy a lower cost domain name and you’re hosting together.

As online marketers we have many different domain names and sometimes buy them for our customers as well. So for us having a domain registrar with an easy to use interface is really useful. Name cheap wins hands down on this one. When I first worked on line a few years ago I used godday. This was fine only the interface could be confusing!!

The average .co.uk domain name works out at around $8.88 per year currently that is £5.42 at Namecheap it defaults to 2 years minimum purchase. At less than £11 for two years it is pretty good value!

To You and Your Success,

Best Wishes
